List import

A list import is the step that loads an attendee or lead file into a working system, mapping its columns to known fields and matching every row to a contact and an account before the team works it.

Each organizer hands you a file in its own format, so you start every import by translating it. One marketing operations manager named list imports as the 1 fix they’d pick.

“Just doing the list imports are so challenging. Takes a long time.”

What happens during a list import?

  1. Field mapping: put each column in the right field.
  2. Normalization: split names, fix casing, standardize company names, and label every row with its source.
  3. Deduplication: check each row against your CRM, on email first and then on name plus company.
  4. Account matching: join each contact to its company account.
  5. Enrichment: fill the gaps, then add labels and owners.

For a post-show lead file, teams often call this cleanup a lead scrub.

Where do you find it in FieldXM?

Import a CSV or spreadsheet and map its fields. FieldXM keeps a source label on every row, so you know where each one came from. See the workflow on the lists and enrichment page.

Importing your list checks off one of the milestones in each event’s readiness signal.
