Lead scrub
A lead scrub is the manual cleanup of an event lead list before it enters the CRM, fixing formats, removing duplicates and excluded records, resolving domains, and filling gaps so the team can route every row.
What does a lead scrub involve?
- Standardize the file: split names, fix casing, normalize company names, and keep a source column.
- Resolve each row to a company domain, the step ops teams call the slowest. See domain resolution.
- Deduplicate against the CRM and match contacts to accounts.
- Set aside the rows your reps shouldn’t work: competitors, vendors, staff, and anyone under suppression.
- Enrich the gaps, split active from cold outreach, and tag the campaign.
Why does it matter?
Expect your revenue operations team to spend 2 to 3 hours on each list. An event-heavy team does that 30 to 50 times a year. Each of those hours sits between your show and the first touch, while your leads cool.
