Enrichment waterfall
An enrichment waterfall is a sequence of data sources that a team runs in order on the same list, trying each one only on the rows the sources before it left unfilled, to raise coverage without paying twice for a field.
Why do teams run a waterfall?
Every source has gaps, and your event lists expose them. Rows arrive as a name and a company, often with no email, so a single provider leaves a large share of your list unfilled.
That’s why operator teams chain providers during list cleanup.
What order should it run in?
Order sets your cost. Teams use 2 common shapes:
| Order | What runs first | Where the money goes |
|---|---|---|
| Vendor-first | A premium provider, on every row | Paid lookups, including rows a cheaper step could fill |
| Cheapest-first | Data you already hold, then low-cost resolution and verification | Premium lookups on the leftover rows only |
Report quality beside coverage. A found email and a verified email are different results, as contact enrichment explains.
Where do you find it in FieldXM?
FieldXM runs your enrichment as a waterfall of the best enrichment providers, plus its own algorithm. The quick pass runs for you on each list and lead, free per row. A Deep Scan goes deeper on the accounts you choose, using credits, with the cost shown first, inside your team’s credit cap.
