Trade show
A trade show is an organizer-run industry exhibition where companies pay for booth space or sponsorship to meet buyers in person, with the organizer controlling the audience and its attendee data.
Many teams build their in-person GTM calendars around trade shows and attach other formats to each one: the executive dinner the night before, the satellite event down the street.
What does a trade show cost you?
You’ll typically spend $30K to $250K on a single show, across sponsorship, booth space, travel, shipping, and staff time.
Weeks later, your events manager usually works out by hand what that money bought, from badge scans and spreadsheets. That makes each show’s line of event spend hard for you to defend.
Why is a trade show hard to run as a revenue event?
The organizer owns the audience. Before the show, organizers often share a partial attendee list, cut it down to title and company, or share nothing. So you build your target view from your CRM and from past attendance at the same show.
The floor makes your reps’ job harder too. On a 2,000-exhibitor floor the FieldXM founder walked, the halls were loud, cell coverage was patchy, and sellers packed the booths.
Where do you find it in FieldXM?
Start each show from its website in FieldXM’s event tracker. Paste the URL, and it pulls in the dates, location, venue, and agenda, with expo hall hours when the site lists them, and adds the exhibitors and speakers to your account graph. It keeps checking the site, keeps the show current, and alerts you when a competitor signs up. Then your team adds objectives, the roster, booth shifts, travel, and shipping in FieldXM’s event logistics.
FieldXM rolls each show’s milestones up into one readiness signal, so you see whether it’s On track or Needs attention.
