Lead retrieval

Lead retrieval is the badge-scanning service organizers sell to exhibitors, which returns the registration details behind each scanned badge and covers only the people who stopped at the booth.

How does lead retrieval work?

You rent scanning devices or license an app for the show. Each scan reads the badge’s registration ID and returns the fields the organizer approved for sharing, typically name, company, title, email, and phone.

Your reps can add qualifiers and notes. You get the data back in the app, as a CSV export after the show, or through a feed into your CRM. Some organizers also sell the same data through a show key that other scanners can use.

What does lead retrieval leave out?

  • Everyone who never reached your booth. A scan list is a self-selected slice of the show, so you need other sources for the attendee list too.
  • The conversation: your CRM loses between 65% and 95% of what buyers tell your reps at the booth.

That second loss is the event capture gap, and badge scan leads missing context walks through it.

How does capture work in FieldXM?

In the FieldXM mobile app, your reps capture a lead by badge scan, business card scan, or manual entry. Add a recording, and the FieldXM mobile app writes the notes and fills the lead’s fields from the transcript. See Universal lead capture.
