Badge scan

A badge scan reads an attendee’s contact details from the printed badge or its barcode at an event and gives the rep a record of who stopped by in a few seconds.

A card scan does the same with a business card, common at dinners and hosted events where guests don’t wear badges. Both record who the person is. Your rep still has to capture what the buyer said.

What does a scan capture?

It depends on what you scan:

  • Printed text. Name, title, and company, from the face of the badge.
  • Barcode. At many shows, a registrant ID that decodes into the full record only through the organizer’s lead retrieval service or a show key you buy.
  • Business card. The printed details, often including a direct email and phone number.

What does a scan leave out?

What the prospect said. The scan tells the owner a conversation happened. The pain point, product interest, and next step stay in your rep’s head unless they write them down.

That gap is the event capture gap, and you close it with conversation capture.

Where do you find it in FieldXM?

Your reps scan badges and business cards with the FieldXM mobile app, or enter a lead by hand, all in the same capture workspace. The app reads the badge’s printed text and barcode on the phone itself.
