Follow-up failure

Follow-up failure is the post-event failure mode of in-person GTM, in which event leads sit unworked until they go cold, or reps work them outside the process and they vanish from the event’s record.

It’s the third of 3 failure modes, after coordination failure before the show and capture failure on the floor.

How does it show up?

  • Your leads sit in a spreadsheet for days or weeks before they reach your CRM.
  • Leads cross a lead-steal window, such as a rule that lets any SDR claim a lead left untouched for 30 days, and your event drops off the record.
  • Your reps work leads outside the capture path, and the attribution leak hides them from you.

“I’ll never see it.”

Why does it recur?

You own the event’s return, and the reps who follow up report to sales. Your policy to follow up within a few days doesn’t have a clock or a queue, so you and your sales leaders don’t see it slip.

Speed alone leaves gaps. Turn the list around fast and you still lose what the buyer said, the first-pass tiering, and the contact’s history from earlier shows.

Where do you find it in FieldXM?

FieldXM gives each captured lead an owner, a next step, and a first-touch deadline as it leaves the floor. The unworked-lead queue then shows you, rep by rep, which leads each one still hasn’t touched.

FieldXM reports your attempt rate and SLA compliance. One enterprise team holds its reps to a 90 percent attempt rate. See how follow-up works in FieldXM.

  • Capture failureCapture failure is the in-event failure mode of in-person GTM, in which the context of booth and hallway conversations disappears before it reaches the CRM, leaving a name with no record of what the buyer said.
